One Culture Foods: Bone Broth Noodle Cups

One Culture Foods: Bone Broth Noodle Cups

I received a care package from One Culture Foods! They generously sent all their cup noodle flavors and they are quite amazing. The four flavors are: Vietnamese Beef Pho, Taiwanese Beef Noodle, Chinese Chicken Noodle, and Japanese Spicy Ramen. These noodle cups are definitely my new go-to when I’m craving some noods!

Cup noodles are not a new concept, so what makes these stand out? It’s definitely the quality of their broth. One Culture uses bone broth to enhance the flavor of the noodles. But what’s bone broth? It’s essentially a really thick stock because bones are used and the collagen (the good stuff) is melted into the liquid and creates a gorgeous thick soup. The Chinese have been ahead of the game on bone broth for centuries now. I grew up drinking bone broth. I have unlimited memories of my mom and aunties refilling my soup bowl whenever it was empty during family dinners because bone broth is full of nutrients and collagen to make my skin radiant and make my body strong. I’m really excited that these noodle cups use bone broth as the foundation of its soup base because the flavor is so much richer and much more natural than other noodle brands.

While the flavors are bold, they do not taste artificial at all – that’s because there is no artificial flavoring! These Bone Broth Noodle Cups are MSG free, cholesterol free, and made with non-GMO ingredients, no preservatives, and no artificial flavoring. And one more thing: their noodles are never fried! I’ve eaten cup noodles/instant noodles my whole life and while it tastes great in the moment, the aftermath is horrible. Heartburn from the fried noodles. Artificial flavors and oils lingering on my palate. Headaches from MSG bombs. I ate these noodles for dinner and I don’t have any of that. The flavors are so pure and, surprisingly, clean. Also, these noodle cups don’t make me feel guilty about indulging. At 190-200 calories per bowl, they definitely do not break the diet.

So what about the quality of the noodles? They are definitely not your standard instant ramen noodles with the little waves. The Japanese Spicy Ramen, Chinese Chicken Noodle, and Taiwanese Beef Noodle use a wheat noodle and the Vietnamese Beef Pho contains a rice noodle. The noodles have a good bite to them and they taste fresh. I loved that the Taiwanese Beef Noodle actually got a bit of the brown coloring from the bone broth soup base onto the noodles, just like it does in the actual dish! Over all, the Chinese Chicken Noodle was my favorite. The broth was very refreshing with the pops of ginger. I felt that it was the flavor that would go well with any kinds of protein and vegetables.

These noodle cups are super convenient. It was a rainy Sunday day and I definitely wanted to just curl up on the couch with a blanket instead of cooking dinner. These noodles were ready to eat in three minutes. Everything inside the cup is packaged so just rip them open, dump everything in, add water, microwave, stir, microwave again, and dinner is served! If you’re like Chris and crave a bit of protein in your meal, you can add any kind of meat you have in your fridge (luckily we went to Clement the day before and bought some char siu and roast duck) or you can make a quick 6-minute egg. Top off the noodles with some cooked vegetables and you’ve got yourself a great healthy and balanced meal!
